Who cares? The University of Maine at Farmington is a community of learners. We come together to learn from and to teach each other. Inherent in that relationship is an expectation of academic integrity, an ethic of scholarship. The Code of Academic Integrity is an integral part of this campus. While UMF places a high value on academic freedom and the rights of faculty members to employ whatever teaching strategies they deem appropriate, we members of this academic community agree on one point: we share in the responsibilities of making UMF a place of academic integrity. Students are expected to educate themselves about ethical standards and seek advice when they have questions about academic integrity. Because we understand that
we pledge to protect our community by abiding by the Code of Academic Integrity. The University of Maine at Farmington Code of Academic Integrity emphasizes the need for commitment to academic integrity in its introduction.
